Premiere Pro Induction

The introduction of Premiere Pro was quite useful because a lot of the skills were transferable to a degree and I always find that learning new software and programs allows me to pick up new software next time I try and learn something new. This applies especially to programs all distributed by Adobe because they all have the same functions and features throughout. For example the layers feature is used in several of their programs including Photoshop and After Effects. I found that using Premiere Pro reminded me a lot of After Effects in that it dealt with video and moving image as oppose to still image like you would encounter in Photoshop or Illustrator. Due to the moving image or video aspect despite both programs being used for different purposes, a timeline function was a focus of both inductions. Hence, I became quite used to managing a timeline and working with it present.

During the induction a range of beginner and fundamental aspects of Premiere Pro were introduced to us. Firstly, the way you important files, image sequences and audio was demonstrated so that using the material given to us we could import it and use it to 'play' with Premiere Pro and become used to using the software. We were also shown how to add effects and layer video on top of each other, creating an interesting out come that also looked quite professional once it was finished. Finally, transitions and clipping or editing the video was also an important part of the induction, the ability to manage different clips and cut and extend sections of video seemed quite vital in the ability to create well edited footage.
